DAMON BIRRELL CREATIVE COMMUNICATION DAMON BIRRELL CREATIVE COMMUNICATION

DBCC is a strategic communications and brand development consultancy.

We work with a broad range and size of enterprise clients to develop their brands through creative and meaningful communications.

We are a collective of communications architects, research specialists, highly proficient project managers and creative thinkers.

We plan, create and manage projects involving copywriting and content creation, web development, social media, branding, design, marketing, start-up and launch strategies, media campaigns and internal communications.

Our output is positive brand experiences.

We work with our clients to understand their business in its entirety – which includes its offer, communications culture, target market, competitors, employees, legacy, reputation and organisational goals.

We then implement a strategic plan for the brand, which is often project focused (like a new website, product launch, re-brand or marketing campaign) and work in association with specialist agencies and suppliers – such as web developers, digital producers and graphic designers – to bring the project to life.

The result is communications activities that are focused, resourceful and highly specialised.

While we offer most services internally, our strength is in our ability to adapt and diversify according to specific project requirements – it allows us to integrate leading industry intelligence into our work. We are not bound by traditional corporate structures, or by a limited pool of staff.

Damon’s expertise is the sum of his experience as a journalist, as a corporate communications consultant, and as a brand strategist.

He has worked with, and continues to work with, some of the best strategic and creative minds in Australia as an associate, partner, contractor or collaborator.

His work has included various shapes and forms of published creative writing, corporate crisis and issues management, PR campaigns, product launches, internal and external communications strategies, brand development projects and online content applications.

Effective and intelligent communication – written, spoken, presented and perceived – is at the core of everything he does, and everything he strives to do.

toBIAS for Tobias Partners, Sydney
Posted: January 16th 2012

Every so often we’re afforded the rare and pleasant opportunity to focus on developing the personality of a brand, rather than just it’s product or service.  Nick Tobias and Tobias Partners was one such opportunity, who came to us with a brief to extend beyond the traditional landscape of static and detached architectural portfolio’s online and develop a communications portal to broadcast their unique and extensive know-how through thoughts, insight, studio life, industry happenings and project updates as they develop. The result is an online presence all to their own which gives their award-winning work much life beyond the walls of 27 Renny St, Paddington.  And here it is.

TEE INK LAUNCH
Posted: November 16th 2011

Congrats to Tee Ink on the launch of their website and online retail store. It’s been a pleasure working with these guys since taking on the role as brand manager earlier this year, and One8one7 did an amazing job in the design department (as always).

Below is an interview I shot with their first signature artist Froggy (my second vid as a film maker for Tee Ink). In our early edits I lent an old original track I’d recorded on my phone some years ago and it ended up in the final cut, which pretty much sums up my experience with Tee Ink – plenty of outside the square creative opportunities I don’t usually get to play with in my usual 9 to 5. Looking forward to what’s coming next with these guys.  Check out the new site here!

Rotary Club of Sydney Cove – New Website and Comms Strategy
Posted: August 31st 2011

Last year I had the pleasure of working with the Rotary Club of Sydney Cove – an amazing group of people who were looking to develop a website that better represented the nature of their club, which was not at all like one would expect to associate with the traditional Rotary brand. Instead I found a group of youthful, energetic, passionate people who believed good humor should go hand-in-hand with good charity work and were keen to take the lead in redefining what Rotary is and can be in the 21st century.

After a club-wide survey and follow-up focus groups with key individuals I developed a comprehensive online communications strategy, which included the planning and direction of a new club website. I then worked with the clubs (incredibly talented and focused) communications committee and specialist suppliers to bring the project to life.

Aside from the new website, Rotary now has an active social media voice (twitter, facebook and youtube channel) and makes use of online channels for fundraising. They’re way ahead of the curve, and are doing some amazing things for the community. I was very proud to be a part of it and thankful for the opportunity to help out such an important charitable organisation.

Take a look at what they’re up to on their website here.

Brilliant creative from Range Rover’s Evoque campaign. Choose-your-own-adventure style movie with consequences at each decision. This is a great example of what can happen when big budgets and great minds come together. Take Henry on your own journey here.

I feel compelled to give a quick nod to the very talented Peter Hawkins, a good friend who has captured some incredibly beautiful shots in and around Paris this past year. It’s hard to believe Pete’s work is all completely candid, which is proof of both his exceptional talent and of his incessant wanderings.

You can see some of Pete’s work here.

Welcome to the new site.

Special thanks to my good friend and collaborator Pierre @ Kinetik for the build, who did an amazing job both managing my elaborate demands and delivering in spades. Cheers.

And of course, to my clients who keep the lights on for me. Looking forward to another big year with you all.

Enjoy.
